Kimono Show

Maloniai kviečiame Jus į žymios japonų kimono meistrės Miyake Teruno “Kimono šou”.

Renginio metu išvysite daugiau kaip 50 unikalių kimono, sukurtų pagal autentiškas japonų tradicijas. 14-oje pasaulio šalių demonstruotais kimono, kainuojančiais iki 300 tūkst. litų, grožėjosi ir buvo aprengti Japonijos imperatorius, Danijos karalienė, Monako kunigaikštis.

Renginys vyks spalio 7d., trečiadienį, Nacionaliniame dramos teatre, Gedimino pr. 4.

Pradžia – 18 val.

Bilieto į renginį kaina – 10 Lt. Už bilietus ir renginio metu surinkos lėšos bus skirtos Kauno medicinos universiteto klinikoms, kuriose gydomo onkologinėmis ligomis sergantys vaikai.

Bilietai užsakomi ir parduodami Nacionalinio dramos teatro kasose.

A well renowned Japanese artist, Teruno Miyake, took the stage at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre on the 7th October, 2009, where she presented a kimono show.

Funds raised at the show were allocated to Kaunas University Hospital in support of treatment of children suffering from cancer.

An impressive amount of 9111 Litas was collected by a charity and financial support fund, “Mothers Union”. Major part of the sum was generated through ticket sales and the rest was put in to the donation box provided.

After the event, Minoro Hashimoto, a president of Tokyo Associates Corporation, who has invited Teruno Miyake to Lithuania, thanked the Vilnius residents and quests for their contribution to this meaningful initiative. Tokyo Associates Corporation has been organising cultural exchange events between Lithuania and Japan since 2001 and this year it was decided to hold the kimono show.

Teruno Miyake presented 50 authentic kimonos, one of which value ranges form 20 to 30,000 Litas. Each robe was presented with an explanation of what it means and what occasion it is worn on. The artist and her assistants also demonstrated how to put this extraordinary garment on. The audience was impressed with the beauty of kimono, as well as honesty of the artist, so mush so that they applauded standing.

Teruno Miyake and event organizers were thanked by the Japanese ambassador in Lithuanian, Miyoko Akashi, Vilnius vice-minister, Gintautas Babravičius and a chairman of Kaunas University Hospital, Edmundas Varpiotas.

Lithuanian Celebrities at the show

Eglė Mėlinauskienė, who is one of the three co-founders of the fund said: “We were thrilled about the fact that Teruno Miyake and a team of 28 people have come to Lithuania using their own funds, and kindly donated all the contributions raised through ticket sales.”

Thanks to the founders of “Mothers Union”, a number of well known Lithuanian celebrities such as TV presenter, Rolandas Vilkončius, member of the band called SKAMP, Viktoras Diawara, and singer and dancer Karina Krysko took part in the show. They have become models of the night. Lithuanian athletes joined the event too: Kyokushin Karate World and European champions Margarita Čiuplytė and Paulius Klapatauskas, and Kyokushin Karate European champions Raimondas Paškauskas, Rita Pivoriūnaitė and Inga Mikštaitė. Also, children who have successfully combated cancer were present on the stage dressed in kimono. The show was presented by Audrius Giržadas, a famous TV presenter and producer, who has contributed to the initiative by providing his services free of charge.

About Teruno Miyake

Teruno Miyake is a president of Kyoto Kimono Association and a kimono show producer. She has spent her entire life to study the art of kimono. Teruno Miyake has put great emphasis on research in order to determine the connection between how the garment is worn and how it fits to different silhouettes. On the basis of that, Teruno Miayke has designed a more comfortable type of a traditional Japanese costume, which raised an interest amongst many modern Japanese women. She established the kimono fashion association in 1982. Members of the association, who are mainly Kimono sewing specialists, share their experiences that help to promote kimono tradition.

Teruno Miyake is also responsible for the performances of the kimono-wearing actors both on TV and theatre stage, as well as models taking part in the photo shooting sessions. She lectures at several universities and private schools in Japan, as well as constantly organises series of Kimono show abroad. Teruno has already visited France, Egypt, Australia, China, USA, Philippines, Norway, Monaco, Check Republic, and Canada amongst others. When visiting foreign countries, the artist has shown a number authentic kimono robes to include: the Japanese emperors, the Danish queen, the Duke of Monaco and the Mayor of San Francisco.

Cultural Exchange Events

Tokyo Assocation is working closely with Vilnius City Municipality. The CEO of the association, Minoro Hashimoto, actively took part in the project of plating the Sakura Tree Park named after the Japanese Politian, Chiune Sugihara in 2001. The city has also seen a number of concerts by Japanese artists. During the visits a substantial amount of money was raised in support of children with cancer. A travel agency, Baltic Cooper, sponsors the travel costs every year. This year even more partners have joined this meaningful project of cultural exchange between Japan and Lithuania, namely: “Mothers Union”, magazine “Cosmopolitan” and the daily newspaper “Respublika”.
